McKinney-Vento Collaborations

This report, created in partnership with the Georgia Department of Education and the Head Start Collaboration Office at the Department of Early Childhood & Learning, examines the collaborative efforts between Head Start grantees and local school districts to support young children experiencing homelessness. Through listening sessions in seven counties across Georgia, the report highlights the challenges in serving every child facing housing insecurity and showcases the impactful work of McKinney-Vento liaisons, Head Start providers, and community members.
Despite these significant efforts, the report identifies opportunities to enhance the system by providing additional capacity and tools to professionals and to clearly communicate available resources to families in need. Strengthening the existing collaboration framework will better support Georgia’s youngest and most vulnerable population, ensuring their future success and the success of the state.
