GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students and Voices for Georgia’s Children have partnered to host an event that will include both a presentation from the Atlanta Regional Commission and KIDS COUNT, as well as a panel of experts that can address the community,business, and policy impact of the proposed 2020 Census.
Census data are used to apportion congressional representation; draw legislative districts at the federal, state, and local levels; and determine how funds are distributed to important programs like Head Start, Medicaid, and school nutrition. The 2020 Census is likely to produce an undercount of Georgia’s children and have far-reaching effects.
