Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
"To ensure Georgia is the best place to raise young children, we must prioritize policies that support families and provide a strong foundation for early childhood development.
First, I would advocate for expanded access to affordable, high-quality childcare and pre-K programs. Early education is crucial for a child's cognitive and social development, and no family should have to choose between financial stability and their child's education.
Second, we must improve healthcare access for young children and their families by expanding Medicaid and ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to regular pediatric care, vaccinations, and developmental screenings. Healthy children are better learners and more likely to succeed later in life.
Third, I would work to ensure that Georgia's communities are safe and supportive, with access to parks, recreational facilities, and clean environments. This means addressing pollution, investing in green spaces, and ensuring that children can grow up in healthy surroundings.
Finally, supporting parents through family-friendly workplace policies—like paid family leave and flexible work options—will allow them to balance work and family life more effectively. Raising children is a community effort, and we must build a network of support for parents that reflects this.
By investing in education, healthcare, and family support, we can make Georgia not only the best place to do business but also the best place for families to thrive."
