Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
"During my first term, I cosponsored a bill for universal pre-K to ensure that every child has access to the best start possible. I also worked with my colleagues to fully fund public education. And, my colleagues and I are working to make childcare even more affordable. Unfortunately, none of that is enough without ensuring children are safe. As a result, I've also worked with my colleagues to pass common sense gun reform including universal background checks, red flag laws, and a bill incentivizing safe storage.
Lastly, we need to support parents. While Georgia is the best state to do business, we need to do all that we can to ensure it's also the best state to live. We need to raise the minimum wage so parents don't have to work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet and instead can spend more time at home with their children. We also need to expand access to medicaid so that every child and their parents can have access to life saving healthcare."
