Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
"We must prioritize investments in our child care infrastructure.
First, we need to support and invest in home child care providers who play a crucial role in our communities, especially in areas lacking sufficient child care options. By increasing reimbursement rates for subsidy programs, we can help address child care deserts and promote greater access for all families.
Encouraging businesses to offer on-site child care facilities or provide subsidies will support working parents, enabling them to balance their careers and family life more effectively. Additionally, grants and contracts should be used to expand the supply of child care in areas with inadequate resources, ensuring that all children have access to quality care.
Expanding paid leave is also essential, allowing families the time they need to find appropriate child care, manage logistics, and transition their babies into care smoothly. By supporting these initiatives, we can create a state where businesses thrive, and families feel supported."
