Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?

“Georgia should be the best place to do business and the best place to raise a family. That starts with investing early: making quality child care more affordable and accessible, strengthening Pre-K, supporting the early childhood workforce, and ensuring children and parents can get the health care they need.

As a physician, a parent, and a legislator, I know that what happens in a child’s earliest years can shape their health and opportunities for years to come. To set up our children for success, we need to fully fund our public schools, modernize Georgia’s outdated education funding formula, fairly compensate and support educators, and invest additional resources in students and communities with greater needs.

Supporting young children also means supporting their families and protecting their health and safety. I have worked to lower health care costs, expand access to care, support child care, and strengthen public education. I have also fought youth vaping and nicotine addiction and advanced commonsense gun safety measures, including secure firearm storage to help keep guns out of the hands of children. I will continue fighting for policies that give parents greater economic security and give every Georgia child, regardless of ZIP code or family income, a healthy start and a strong foundation for the future.”
