Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?

"As a 20-year veteran teacher, there is no-one more vested in making sure we protect the future of our children through education and wrap-around services to families who need them.We must also recognize that younger children have special needs that may require expanding WIC, Headstart, and services that give children the best start by identifying children early and matching them with resources. Students deserve high quality education. This means giving teachers a competitive salary, equipping parents to support the education process and eliminating disparages between schools. All students should be able to learn in a safe environment where STEM is embedded into academics that prepare children for NextGen learning/ Digital Citizenship Competencies. Furthermore, Georgia must lead the way in fostering Character Education which can help reduce the school to prison pipeline, while increasing productivity that maintains our business standing.

Oftentimes, the barriers to equitable learning opportunities cause result in marginal student representation in the arts, technology career fields, math and science, and even vocational tech careers. Our children deserve an education that allows them to pursue careers that pay the bills later in life, not simply accumulate student loan debt. Beyond learning, we must ensure our children are not victims of cyber-bullying, sexual predators, hypersexual stimuli at a young age, gender discrimination or gun violence. This may mean allowing stakeholders transparency in school libraries, additional funding to secure school facilities (mentally with fully funded counselors, and physically with auto-locking doors). Finally, childhood obesity is a problem we must tackle statewide."
