Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
“Georgia’s success as the best state to do business should also be measured by whether working families can afford to live, raise children, and build a secure future here. I would focus on policies that strengthen families while supporting continued economic growth. First, Georgia must improve access to affordable, high-quality childcare. Parents should not have to choose between going to work and paying a childcare bill that rivals their mortgage. I support expanding childcare assistance, encouraging employer-supported childcare, and creating incentives for providers to open and remain in underserved communities. Second, we must strengthen public education from the earliest years by investing in pre-K, reducing classroom overcrowding, supporting teachers, and expanding access to school counselors and mental-health resources. Third, families need access to affordable healthcare. Expanding healthcare access, improving maternal and pediatric care, and addressing shortages in rural and growing communities will help ensure children receive the care they need close to home. Finally, Georgia must remain affordable. That means addressing housing costs, improving transportation and infrastructure, supporting good-paying jobs, and helping working families keep more of what they earn. This is not about building bigger government; it is about building a better economy that works for families. Georgia can remain a national leader for business while becoming the best state in America to raise a family.”
