Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?

"To ensure our children can grow up in a thriving community, we need comprehensive reforms in education, childcare, and economic policy. The number one predictor of educational success is poverty, and currently, Georgia's schools are extremely unequal. Georgia is one of the only states in the country that does not include equitable funding in its school funding formula. We have to change that. Your zip code should not determine the quality of education your child receives. Free breakfast and lunch should be made available to all students, and we must expand Georgia's Pre-K services so they are universal and free to all families. We must significantly increase teacher pay to what they deserve and equip them with the resources and staffing they need to keep our children safe and learning. As a State Representative, I will push for universal childcare. We also need to build an economy that centers working people, so that families can afford to give children the lifestyle they deserve. That means truly affordable housing, universal healthcare, and a living wage from good union jobs. That means guaranteeing 12 weeks of paid parental leave for all Georgians. There is a lot we can do for working families in this state, and we must organize and engage the community to advocate for these policies and put pressure on our leadership to make it happen. I commit to fighting for these policies and doing everything we can to make Georgia work for all of us."
