Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?

“Georgia should not only be the best state to do business; it should be the best state to build a family. That starts by empowering and supporting parents. Families should be able to afford their basic needs without both parents having to work every waking hour just to keep up. Parents should have the flexibility to be home after school, attend their children’s activities, and actually spend meaningful time together. We should focus on lowering the cost of living, expanding economic opportunity, and making sure good jobs and small businesses can thrive. We also need healthy families and healthy communities. Parents who are physically and financially healthy are better able to be present for their children—whether that means helping with homework, coaching a team, or simply playing outside together. Strong schools, safe neighborhoods, accessible parks and recreation, and policies that respect parents as the primary decision-makers for their children all contribute to raising well-rounded kids. If Georgia wants to lead the nation, we should measure our success not only by how many companies move here, but by how many families can afford to stay here, grow here, and give their children a great childhood.”
