Georgia Senate District #37

Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
“If elected I will make affordability for families a priority. Particularly access to quality, affordable childcare, healthcare and strong public schools. Currently, Georgia has programs like CAPS and Georgia Pre-K but we need to ensure that working families can actually access the support that they need and that childcare workers have the resources and workforce that is necessary to provide high-quality care to young children. I would support strengthening tax credits for families, including making childcare related tax relief more accessible to our low-income families. This includes making our current child tax credit refundable so families who need the most assistance can benefit from our current programs.
Being a family friendly state also means we must make sure that parents can afford to live in the communities where they work, have access to safe neighborhoods and reliable transportation and have confidence that their children will have opportunities to succeed in Georgia. As a mom of four I am committed to being a champion for families across the state. We should not have to choose between being the best state to do business and being the best place to raise a family. When elected I will work to ensure Georgia can be both.”
