Georgia Senate District #49

Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
“Georgia earns the “best state for business” title because we keep taxes low and regulation light. That same formula, aimed at families instead of factories, is exactly how we become the best place to raise kids too.
Start with the pocketbook. I helped pass the child tax credit package the Senate approved unanimously this term. It creates a new $250 credit for every child under six, takes the childcare tax credit from 30 to 50 percent of the federal match, and gives employers an incentive to help cover daycare costs. That’s real relief for young parents right when diapers and daycare bills hit hardest.
I also co-sponsored SB 402, which built Georgia’s first screening and evaluation pilot for autism spectrum disorder in our foster care system. It passed the Senate 52-0 and is now law. Every child deserves to be seen and helped early, foster kids most of all.
Beyond the ledger, it’s about the life you build around a family: safe neighborhoods, strong public schools with real options like the Promise Scholarship, church and civic life still intact, and the property tax relief I keep pushing for so a young family in Hall County can actually afford a home near good schools.
Georgia doesn’t have to choose between the best economy and the best place to raise a family”
