Georgia is often touted as the best state to do business. How would you ensure that it is also the best place to raise young children?
“The same principles that made Georgia the best state for business can make it the best state to raise a family: low taxes, limited government, and the freedom for families to make their own choices. The greatest pressure facing young families today is financial. Government does not make childhood better by growing bigger. It makes family life better by getting out of the way to let parents keep more of what they earn. That is why I am committed to working toward elimination of Georgia’s state income tax. Every dollar returned to a young family is a dollar for diapers, groceries, childcare, or a first home. Parents are wiser with budgets than bureaucrats. I will also cut regulations that drive up the cost of raising children. Red tape increases childcare costs by limiting providers, drives up housing prices through burdensome zoning and permitting requirements, and raises the cost of everyday goods. Rolling back unnecessary regulations will expand access to affordable childcare and starter homes while lowering costs across the board. But prosperity alone is not enough. Parents, not bureaucrats, are the primary decisionmakers for their children. I will defend parental rights and demand transparency, parental involvement, and consent in our schools and healthcare systems, including parents’ full access to their children’s records. I will always protect our most vulnerable: safeguarding children from irreversible, life-altering decisions and defending life at every stage. When government trusts families with their own money and their children, Georgia will lead in raising the next generation.”
